FAQs What to do if a plug gets stuck in your vehicle

CCS2

If you are charging with a CCS2 plug, you can release a plug that is stuck by finding the magnetic lock release from your car. These can be located next to the car charge port, or sometimes located within the vehicle. Check your vehicle manual if you are unable to locate them. Make sure your charging session has ended before attempting to release the plug.

CHAdeMO

If you press the release button on the plug before the electromagnetic lock is released, it may become stuck. Make sure your charging session has ended before attempting to release the plug.

You can determine whether the electromagnetic lock has been released by checking to see if the red light has switched off on the handle of the connector. Once the electromagnetic lock is released, tap the plug with something (e.g. a phone) to release the jammed latch.

Once it has been knocked free, you should be able to remove the connector.
