What is Tap & Go?
Tap & Go is a simple way to start and pay for your EV charging session — no app or account needed. Just plug in and tap your debit card to get started.
How does it work?
- Plug the connector into your car
- Tap your debit card on the card reader terminal
- Once your charge is complete, tap the same card again and press ‘Stop’
- Unplug and you’re on your way
A temporary pre-authorisation of $50 is held on your card. You’ll only be charged for the energy you use, and any unused balance is automatically refunded (timing depends on your bank).
Do I need an Evie account?
No, Tap & Go works independently of the Evie App. You can also use it with a different card to the one saved in your Evie profile, if you have one.
How much does Tap & Go cost?
For Tritium chargers, Tap & Go pricing is displayed on the charging unit.
For Kempower chargers, refer to the Evie App for the most up-to-date pricing.
If you use the Evie App or an Evie Pass, different account pricing may apply.

We’ll continue to expand this feature across more sites in the future.
