Here at Evie, we’ve always been about improving the EV charging experience for all drivers, which is why we’re excited to be introducing a highly requested charging experience – Autocharge.
What’s Autocharge?
Picture this: You plug in your car and before you know it, it’s already charging. How good!
With Evie’s Autocharge, you’ll experience this every time you charge with us at compatible Autocharge chargers. Just pull up, plug in and charge up. No app, no tap. It’s that easy. Plus, there won’t be any pre-authorisation holds or additional fees.
How we brought Autocharge to life
Autocharge is like magic (kind of)! It uses the unique MAC address of your vehicle to identify it and once recognised, starts the charge automatically. To help guard your details with extra care, we also use a one-way hash to de-identify your MAC Address from our backend, so your car’s full MAC address is not sent to or stored by Evie, giving you full piece of mind to enjoy Evie’s Autocharge.
And yes, we can confirm Autocharge is real
We know it sounds too good to be true, but it really is! Once you’ve set Autocharge up in the Evie app for a compatible vehicle, you can say goodbye to the hassle of starting a charge from the app most of the time. All you’ll have to do is plug in a compatible vehicle at an Autocharge compatible charger, and the charge will start.
Don’t forget to also check for these two things to be sure the charge has started:
- The charger screen will show a green tick, followed by kWh increasing to indicate that we’re powering up your car
- Your car dashboard or display screen should also reflect the session starting
Stopping a charge with Evie remains the same. Just press the stop button on the charger, and you’re on your way. We’ll email you your receipt, and the details will be recorded in your Evie app.
Strap in and get ready for Autocharge
We know this is brand new information, so here’s your Autocharge 101 checklist to tick off before your run out the door to experience this goodness for yourself:
- A compatible vehicle paired with a compatible Evie charger is required to successfully set up and start a charge with Autocharge
- You’ll need to set up Autocharge in the Evie App BEFORE you head out for your next charge
- There are no pre-authorisation holds or additional fees with setting up or using Autocharge
- When charging with Autocharge, be sure to check the charger screen to be sure a charge has started shortly after plugging in your vehicle
- To stop a charge, just press the stop button on the charger
We’ve opened early access to Autocharge to a small number of Evie customers on the 17th of July 2024. If you can’t see Autocharge in the Evie App, stay tuned! It will be officially rolled out to all Evie users from early August.
